Algonquin Boys Soccer are the Central Mass Champions! And ARHS will hold court as two teams enter the MIAA Championships this week. So, it’s time for a post-season update.
Titans Soccer played Leominster in the CMass Finals on Wednesday. Per tradition, the team stood out on the field with their golden bleached hair. But, they broke with tradition by winning the big game, 2-0. (The last time I could find a CMass Finals win by the boys was 2010, and that predated the MIAA and CMADA restructuring of tourneys.)
Check out the boys’ joy in the photos photographer Jeff Slovin posted to Instagram below:

They are now on a 5 game winning streak heading into next week’s MIAA Division 1 playoffs.
As of Tuesday, the Boys were ranked #13, (The final rankings and brackets aren’t due out until Friday.) But that seemingly underestimates how the Titans’ play has improved this fall. The boys’ 3 losses were in the first half of the season. And only one of the 3 ties was in the latter half,
Head Coach Fred Zupicich told the Community Advocate, “We started the season slow … but we’ve put it together.”
MIAA brackets for Field Hockey and Volleyball were posted (late) yesterday for games starting tomorrow. Both ARHS teams will enter the tourneys with the home field advantage.
Gonk Girls Volleyball is ranked #9 for Division 2. They earned a bye on the prelim round. They’ll play #24 Milford in the first round on Friday, November 1st at 5:00 pm.
ARHS Field Hockey is third seed in Division 1. They’ll play #30 Westford Academy in the round of 32 on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:00 pm.
Catching up on news I missed sharing on Monday. . . Boys Cross Country came in third place at their Mid-Wach A League Championships on Saturday. (Check out their Instagram post below.) According to the Telegram, they were led by Stephen Green in 5th place for the 3.1 mile race.

Their state tourneys are over a week away, so stay tuned for news on that.
As I’ve previously posted, Algonquin is playing its last regular season Football game under the lights this Friday night at Leominster. (You can buy tickets for that here.) They have qualified for the upcoming D2 playoffs.
