Obituary: Gail A. (McClain) Jenks, 82

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gail A. Jenks of Southborough, MA on October 30, 2024 at the age of 82 after a battle with cancer. Gail was the beloved wife of Philip Jenks. They had recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

Gail was born in Boston in 1942 to the late Allan and Virginia McClain. She was raised in Auburndale and graduated from Newton High School. After graduating from Bridgewater State College with a degree in education, she earned a Masters in Mathematics from Framingham State. She taught in both the Framingham and Southborough school systems, and went on to become the very first Director of Technology for the Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough. Along with Phil and her brother Doug, she also owned Century 21 Stonybrook Realty in Southborough.

Gail met Phil, the love of her life, in 1958 while they were both still in high school. They married in 1965 and lived in Framingham and Holliston before moving to Southborough in 1971 to raise their family.

Family was everything to Gail. Her happiest moments were those spent with Phil, her three children and their spouses, and her six grandchildren, often gathered together on the deck of their beloved Rhode Island vacation home. Gail was the heart of our family, a warm presence whose love was unwavering and whose generosity touched each of us. We will remember her for her kindness, her caring and compassion, and for her legendary meatloaf recipe. Her spirit will live on in the lessons she imparted, and in the love she so generously shared.

In addition to Phil, Gail is survived by her son Andrew Jenks of Southborough, his wife Julie, and their children Connor, Kevin, and Leann; her daughter Susan Fitzgerald of Southborough, her husband Jim and their daughter Maggie; and her son Michael of Virginia, his wife Annie and their children Christopher and Kathryn. She is also survived by her brother Douglas McClain of Falmouth and his wife Maureen (Mimi). She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Cutting. Gail also leaves a loving group of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

Visiting hours for Gail will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 5:00-7:00pm, at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough, MA 01772. Burial will be private.
