Hopefully, over the weekend a Southborough scout hung a bag with a collection flyer on your doorknob. If so, expect the scout to be coming back around your neighborhood to collect donations this Saturday morning. (If not, you could deliver donations to the Southborough Food Pantry or make a financial donation.)
Southborough residents are being asked to donate to the big annual Scouting for Food collection drive. Participants are asked to place their donated items in bags at the end of their driveways by 9:00 am on Saturday, November 9th.
Volunteers will be bringing donations over to Pilgrim Church where other volunteers will be sorting the food to be stored for the Southborough Food Pantry.
Reminder, the pantry is specifically looking for the following items:
plastic wrap
aluminum foil
solid white tuna
liquid hand soap
rice pilaf
laundry detergent
dish detergent
minced clams
cake mix
brownie mix
jelly
Ritz & Saltine crackers
chicken broth
Capri Sun
shampoo
ketchup
mustard
mayo
cranberry juice
olive oil
Dinty Moore beef stew
pasta sauce in jars
corned beef hash
sugar
canned meats (chicken, spam)
pickles
relish
olives
barbecue sauce
paper products (paper towels, tissues, toilet paper)
plastic bags (snack, sandwich, quart, gallon)
coffee (regular, decaf, instant)
grocery store gift cards
Please remember to check the expiration dates before you donate. (Also, note that while it’s fine to donate multi-packs, please don’t donate jumbo/commercial-sized items, like giant jars.)
If there are no signs of scouts collecting food in your neighborhood, you can still participate by dropping off items at Pilgrim Church between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Or, you can support the pantry by making a direct donation here.
