Veterans Day on Monday

Southborough holds its annual observances on the day of the holiday.

As they do every year, Southborough Veterans will conduct Veteran Day Observances on Monday, November 11th at 11:00 am (or 1100 hours) to honor all Veterans – living and passed.

The public is invited to take part in the observances.

Following tradition, the Veterans Day Observance is held at the All Wars Memorial on the Common. It is preceded by a parade from the American Legion & VFW Post Headquarters (at the Community House, 28 Main Street).

The parade led by veterans also generally includes representatives from the Select Board and town scouts. (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts are all invited to march.)*

The parade participants begin gathering at 10:15 am. The short procession to the memorial starts at 10:45 am.

The community joins them at the Town Common for the Observances beginning at 11:00 am to honor our country’s veterans and service members. (That’s the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.)

The 30-40 minute event remembers our fallen and honors those who serve today and all those who have served our nation. It includes readings, speeches, patriotic music, gun salutes, and the playing of Taps.
