Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend. This weekend it feels a bit like everything, everywhere is happening all at once!

  • Postponed to Sunday: Girl Scout Holiday Sing-along 
  • WCC Holiday Show (7:30 pm) @ Gibbons Middle School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus will perform its annual Holiday Show, with audience singalong and a visit from Santa. For details, see related post.

  • New York City Bus Trip (6:00 am – about 11:00 pm) @ pickup & dropoff at Ashland Community Center: Book a deluxe motor coach trip for sightseeing during the holiday season through Southborough Rec. For details, see related post.
  • Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St Anne’s Church Parish Hall, 20 Boston Road: An annual Southborough tradition. Boy Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping. While waiting, adults can enjoy a bake sale and coffee. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Christmas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main Street: Featuring the White Elephant and craft sales, a silent auction, basket raffle, a lunchtime Café, and more. For details, see dedicated post
  • Southborough Art & Gift Sale (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ 49 Lynbrook Road (L’Abri Fellowship): Local artisans and craftspeople will be selling holiday gifts. This event is free and open to the public. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Holiday Tree Party (10:30 am – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Kids are invited to drop-in to enjoy refreshments and make ornaments to hang on the library holiday tree. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see related post.
  • Holiday Book Sale (11:00 am – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: The Friends of the Southborough Library will be holding a special sale with DVDs, CDs, and more. One free book per child. For details, see related post.
  • Santa Day (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Community House: Free event for the community. See Santa arrive by helicopter (or fire engine in case of inclement weather). Then join him and Southborough Kindergroup at the Community House for activities and refreshments before kids share their wishes with Santa while posing for a picture.   • WCC Holiday Show (7:30 pm) @ Gibbons Middle School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus will perform its annual Holiday Show, with audience singalong and a visit from Santa. For details, see related post.

  • DIY Workshop: Boxwood and Dried Fruit Wreath (1:00 – 2:30 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. For details, see related post.
  • Tween Holiday Pottery Workshop (1:00 – 5:00 pm) @ 21 Highland St: The first of a 2-part workshop through Southborough Rec for ages 10+. Kids will learn to “craft beautiful holiday-themed pottery pieces, perfect for gifts or seasonal decorations”. (2nd part of class is following Sunday.) For details, see related post.
  • NACC Concert (2:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School Auditorium, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: 53rd Annual Christmas concert “Winter in New England”. For details, see related post.
  • WCC Holiday Show (2:00 pm) @ Gibbons Middle School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus will perform its annual Holiday Show, with audience singalong and a visit from Santa. For details, see related post.
  • Children’s “Prep for the Holidays” Dining Etiquette (3:30 pm – 5:00 pm) @ 21 Highland St: New England School of Protocol will run this interactive Southborough Rec program for children ages 7-12 on the the essentials of polite dining and social etiquette. For details, see related post.
  • Messiah Community Concert (3:30 pm) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St: The annual concert performing selections from Handel’s Messiah. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Girl Scout Holiday Sing-along (5:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Community House Lawn: [This event was originally scheduled for Friday, but postponed to this time due to the weather.] Event for all families in Southborough. Kick off the holiday season with an old-fashioned holiday sing-along with some modern touches. For details, see dedicated post
  • DIY Workshop: Winter Porch Planter (3:00– 4:30 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. For details, see related post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Social knitting group — scheduled to meet weekly this summer. Beginners are welcome and supplies will be provided, though you can also bring your own and “any creation you are working on”.

  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Select Board Office Hours (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Town House Hearing Room, 17 Common St: Residents are invited to drop in to informally speak with two Board members about any questions, concerns or interests. This session will be hosted by members members Marguerite Landry and Al Hamilton. 
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Neary Instrumental Concert (7:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium, 49 Parkerville Road: Annual winter concert of Neary School’s Band & Orchestra.

  • ARHS Sophomore Parent Workshop (8:00 – 9:00 am): Event for parents of Algonquin sophomores. (For details, look for an email from the school.)
  • Assabet’s Breakfast Buffet (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @AVRTHS, Epicurean Room Restaurant, 215 Fitchburg St, Marlborough: Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School’s culinary program is promoting this special All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet for $11 plus tax.   • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.

  • Learn to Laser Cut (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Free library event for students in grades 6-12. Learn how to make holiday and winter themed charms, pendants, and key chains and go home with your own creation. Click here to register.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
