The Boston Globe recently posted a comparison of how much towns paid for snow removal in 2008. For Southborough it was $287K, which works out to about $30 per town resident.
The state average is $29 per person, so we’re not too far off the mark. By comparison, Northborough residents pay the equivalent of $20 each, while Westborough comes in at $39.
But that was last year. This year the numbers are bound to be higher across the board. As I told you earlier in the week, Southborough has already depleted its $229K snow removal budget and the Board of Selectmen authorized an additional $88K.
Assuming those numbers hold, that works out to the equivalent of $33 per resident, or $132 for a family of four.
