This afternoon, the Southborough Library will offer the third live session in its new virtual series of author talks. The event this Thursday afternoon will focus on working with a Literary Agent from the perspective of someone who has experience in both that role and as a published children’s and YA author.

Seth Fishman is a literary agent (and VP) at an agency that represents 500 authors covering a “broad” range of genres. This afternoon, he’ll hold a virtual talk on “an inside look into working with an agent and the beginning stages of the publishing process”:

You’re writing a book (or thinking about it), but what happens next? . . .

Seth Fishman flyerIn this presentation, Fishman will deep dive into what happens after you’ve signed with a literary agent. He will cover many topics, including but not limited to:

  • What agents are and are not looking for,
  • How to submit your work to an agent and when,
  • What to expect after you’ve both said “yes!” to working together,
  • What you can look forward to as you ready your work with an eye towards submitting to publishers, including the revision process and so much more.

Fisher’s bio on the event registration page includes his experience as an agent and that he is the author of three picture books, including the award-winning A Hundred Billion Trillion Stars, and two YA books.

The talk is scheduled for 1:00 – 2:30 pm today, Tuesday, January 28th. When you register, you can also pre-submit questions for the Q&A. Click here to sign up.
