Algonquin Boys Ice Hockey is promoting that tomorrow’s home game is their annual tribute to the memory of Brian K. Arsenault. The game will be used to raise funds for the Arsenault Memorial Fund and support veterans.
Arsenault was a former team member and Class of ’04 graduate who was Killed in Action ten years later while serving the Army in Afghanistan. This is the team’s 10th annual Memorial Game in his honor.
Each year, the team dons special camouflage themed uniforms for the game in Arsenault’s honor. (Photo right from the January 2024 event is courtesy of Owen Jones Photo.)
In a social media post, the team promotes that the event will include a fundraising raffle and a collection drive to support veterans:
A great event to support the Arsenault Memorial Fund is coming up this Saturday at Northstar Ice Rink at 7:30pm. Come watch a fun night of hockey and enter the raffles to win authenticated signed merchandise from the Bruins. All proceeds from this event go to local veterans.
We are collecting donations to go to the Veterans Food Pantry, located downstairs at the American Legion Post @ 402 W. Main Street, Northborough. Some needed items are Spaghetti sauce, tuna, toilet paper, paper towels, etc….. and always new clean socks are in great need.
If you cannot make the game , but still wish to donate, checks can be mailed to
6 Garrison Circle, Northborough, MA 01532 & made out to the….
BRIAN ARSENAULT MEMORIAL FUND
ALL donations are much appreciated. If you are able, please give a little, in honor of someone who gave everything.
The game will take place 7:30 pm on Saturday, February 4th at North Star Ice Rink (15 Bridle Ln, Westborough).
The team will be playing Hopedale. (Unfortunately, they’ll be the underdogs. The Gonk Boys lost to Hopedale 4-1 earlier this season and also lost their last two games. So, I’m sure they’d especially appreciate a supportive crowd.)
Tickets to the game are sold online here.
