Ronald P. Deschamps, 70, of Fitchburg (formerly of Southborough) passed away peacefully in Fitchburg HealthCare on February 6, 2025.
Ron was born in Natick on December 20, 1954, a son of the late Paul and Clarycie Alice (Tenney) Deschamps. He was raised and educated through the Ashland and Southborough Elementary Schools, before graduating from Algonquin High School in Northborough. Ron later attended Mount Wachusett Community College.
He spent his career working as a Warehouse Manager for Digital Equipment Corp, before moving over to New Horizon Technologies. After retirement, Ron became a consultant for various computer and technology companies in the area.
Ron was a true outdoorsman; he loved nothing more than nature and enjoying all it has to offer. He could often be found hiking trails, hunting, camping, and fishing. Ron enjoyed traveling to Maine for ice fishing and was proud to be a Boy Scout leader for many years while his sons were growing up.
He was a dedicated volunteer for both the North County Land Trust, clearing brush from hiking trails, as well as for the Western Mass Search and Rescue. Ron also loved to spend time in his yard, gardening, listening to music and playing his guitar. He always found a faithful companion in his dogs, whom he loved very much. He always enjoyed the tradition of his yearly family corn roasts, paying homage to his mother’s West Virginian roots. Ron is on the trail . . .
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathie (Babineau) Deschamps of Fitchburg; two sons, Joshua Deschamps of Gardner and Jacob Deschamps and his wife Nichole of North Brookfield; two granddaughters, Emalise and Chloe Deschamps; siblings, Debi and Jim Deveny of Westboro, Carolyn Cameron of Stowe, Tim Deschamps and wife Ann of Southboro, and Joe Deschamps of Athol; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held in the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg on Saturday, February 15, from 10am – 12noon. A funeral service will begin at 12noon. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Rd. Sterling, MA 01564
