Town Election Update: Potential candidate for School Committee

Since I last posted an update on the Town election, another potential candidate pulled papers.

On Tuesday, I highlighted that no one had pulled papers to run for the 1-year seat on the Southborough School Committee. That changed on Wednesday morning.

Resident Diane Romm is currently collecting signatures to run for the the seat. As of last night, no one has made an official move to run against her.

Here is the updated status for other seats as of last night. . .

No one has pulled papers for the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds yet.

For several other seats, candidates (mostly incumbents) have pulled papers but have yet to file the signed papers. In fact, only the incumbents for the Select Board, Board of Library Trustees, and Southborough School Committee’s 3-year seat have completed that step.

I encourage anyone who has decided they aren’t going to run to email me at mysouthborough@gmail.com to announce their decision.1

If there is an open seat, I’d like to help get the word out to residents in time for them to consider running. (There are only two weekends left to collect signatures.)

Again, the deadline to pull papers is March 24th, and to file is March 25 (with a deadline of April 10th to withdraw from the ballot).

You can read more details on the seats up for grabs in my past coverage here.

  1. Okay, I don’t actually mean “anyone” who isn’t running should contact me. That would cover most residents in town (plus every non-resident). I’m referring to people who have pulled papers while they contemplated running but then decided not to pursue it. (There’s usually at least one each year.) Or an incumbent who decides to step down at the end of this term.
