I’m sharing news from (and following up on) the latest issue of the beat — NSBORO Schools’ literally musical newsletter. In addition to sharing news on students’ achievements and upcoming performances, it plays toe tapping clips from recent performances.
The cover of the March 20th newsletter includes a clip of the Algonquin’s Jazz Ensemble I from when it hosted the MAJE District Jazz Festival.
The caption notes that both the ARHS Jazz I and Jazz II Ensembles would be competing in the State Finals. That took place on Saturday.
GonkArts shared their outstanding results in an Instagram post. Jazz I won Gold and will go on to perform in the Gold Medal Showcase on May 4th in the Hatch Shell. Jazz II won Silver.
The post specified seven students who “received outstanding musicianship recognitions from the judges”:
- Jared Lebel- flugelhorn
- Everett Richman- drums
- Thomas Schuler- drums
- Evan Morgan- trumpet
- Leon Khoo- tenor sax
- Ian Tregger- piano
- AJ Phaneuf- bari sax
