Here are my highlights from Algonquin varsity sports competitions last week and the schedule for this week.
Last week, Gonk Baseball’s undefeated streak came to an end when Shrewsbury shut them out 10-0 on Thursday. Prior to the loss they racked up a 6th win by beating Shepherd Hill 3-1.
Titans Softball continued a pattern of alternate wins and losses. They lost to Westborough 11-2, but beat Groton-Dunstable Regional 13-4, updating their record to 3-3.
In Lacrosse, the Boys record is 5-1 after two more wins over Wachusett (8-1) and Leominster (7-1). The Girls’ wins over the same teams, Wachusett (14-7) and Leominster (20-6), improved their record to 4-4.
In Rugby the Boys beat Marshfield 34-0. The Girls apparently were forced to cancel and forfeit their scheduled game against Weymouth.
In Tennis, the Boys beat Wachusett 3-2 but lost to St. John’s 1-4. Their record is now 4-3. Girls Tennis is 4-4 after losing to Bromfield 1-4 but beating Wachusett 3-2.
Boys Volleyball lost to 1-3 to both Wachusett and Framingham.
The Outdoor Track teams competed against Shrewsbury last week. The ARHS Girls posted a win but the Boys didn’t post their results.
Girls Golf lost their 3rd straight game to Wachusett 33.5-20.5
