CA: Driver charged with racing on Rte 9

According to the Community Advocate, the Southborough Police have pressed charges against a driver who was allegedly high speed racing another driver on Route 9.

The incident took place early in the evening on Sunday April 6th.

The CA writes:

an officer spotted a 2007 Infiniti G35X speeding down Turnpike Road. The vehicle was clocked at 101 mph in a posted 50 mph zone, according to the Southborough Police Department. The operator. . . was reportedly driving at the same speed as another vehicle. The officer said both vehicles were making noise as they accelerated. . .

[The driver] was charged with racing a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding.

The driver pleaded not guilty in Westborough District Court where a hearing has been scheduled for June 20th. According to the SPD’s logs, the female driver is a resident of Uxbridge.

She wasn’t the only driver arrested in early April, just the most unusual.

The SPD’s logs show that later the same night, a driver from Harvard, MA was arrested for an alleged 2nd drinking and driving offense.

The arrest was at Marlborough Road and Acre Bridge Rd, with additional charges for failing to wear a seat belt, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a number plate violation and “Cigarette/match, drop on forest/field”.
