Assabet to hold benefit in memory of culinary arts teacher

Last April Cliff Giovannucci, a culinary arts teacher at Assabet, was killed in a motorcycle accident. On Saturday the Assabet community will hold a skating event and hockey game in his memory to benefit his two children. Here are all the details:

On April 24th of this year, the Assabet Valley community lost one of its most beloved members. Mr. Cliff Giovannucci, also known as Chef G. or Coach G. to his adoring culinary arts students and ice hockey players, was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident. A graduate of Assabet Valley, Cliff was the lead teacher in the culinary arts program and assistant boys’ hockey coach. He was also one of Assabet’s greatest ambassadors throughout the Central Massachusetts area. Whether it was engineering an Easter brunch for hundreds or providing a truly needy student with a hot meal, no endeavor was too big or too small for Cliff if it meant that at the end of the day someone’s life was a little better.

To honor and remember Cliff’s generous and compassionate spirit, a benefit skate and a celebratory hockey game will be held at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro on Saturday, November 27th. The fun skate (skates are not provided) will begin at 2:00 PM and the hockey game will start at 3:00 PM. A $5.00 donation, per person or per family, includes the fun skate and admission to the hockey game. Any alumni or friends wishing to participate in the hockey game are asked to contact Assabet Hockey Coach Dave Quinn by email: dquinn@assabet.org or by phone: 978-944-0764 for further details. All proceeds generated from this event will go directly to the Giovannucci Children’s Trust Fund.
