Assabet Valley Regional Technical School wants to build a house, all they need is the land. It’s part of their House Building Project scheduled to start next year. The school district is currently soliciting applications from landowners who would like a one-family home built on their property.
“This is a great way to further the educational experience of the students in our building trades, as well as a unique opportunity to give back to our communities,” Director of Technical Programs at Assabet Russell Mangsen said.
Last year Assabet students completed a down-to-the-studs renovation of a 3-bedroom cape on Parkerville Road. The town-owned house is now on the market as an affordable home.
To qualify for the latest Home Building Project, the landowner has to commit to the home being their primary residence for at least five years, the land must meet all the town’s zoning regulations, and there are other requirements. You can read them all here.
Applications may be downloaded from the school’s website (www.assabettech.com) or may be requested from the Vocational Office at the school at 508-485-9430, ext. 1457. Applications must be submitted by January 31.
Shouldn’t they have primed those walls before putting in the cabinets?
