The latest school budget — and in particular the question of whether to add back a teaching position — has been a hot topic on the blog this week. On Monday night, the Board of Selectmen and Advisory Committee will dig into some of the details as they meet to review the budget with the K-8 School Committee.
The meeting is open to the public, and concerned residents are invited to attend. It will take place in the Library at Trottier Middle School starting at 7:30 pm. For those of you who have never been, the library is on the second floor at Trottier.
At the conclusion of the budget review, the Advisory Committee will hold a review session on financial fundamentals, which will also be open to the public.
“The main reason for this session is to provide the new members of Advisory with a baseline knowledge of how to use the budget tools,” Chairperson Claire Reynolds wrote in a email. “However, this is also a great opportunity for Southborough residents who are interested in learning how the budget process works.”
The spreadsheet the town uses to put together its budget will also be reviewed during the session. You can download a copy of it in advance on the Advisory Committee website. The file is called ‘adv treas 012511 -2.xls’.
The financial fundamentals session is expected to start at 8:30 pm at the Trottier Middle School Library.
