Lots of you have commented in recent weeks about what works and what doesn’t work about town government. Here’s your chance to do more than just talk about it.
Town Meeting earlier this month voted to create a committee that will be charged with drafting language for a new Town Manager form of government. The committee will consider major changes to the structure of our government, including creating the position of Town Manager and increasing the size of the Board of Selectmen from three to five.
Town Moderator David Coombs is looking for volunteers to serve on the drafting committee. Volunteers must be Southborough residents who are registered voters. Experience with town government is preferred.
If the legislation proposed by the drafting committee goes through, it will significantly change the way Southborough does business. How’s that for having an impact?
You can read the full call to arms on the town website. If you’re interested, send a resume along with a letter of interest to the Selectmen’s Office, 17 Common St, Southborough, MA 01772, or e-mail to personnel@southboroughma.com by Friday May 6.
