The 200-mile 24-hour Reach the Beach relay road race from Wachusett to Westport will make it’s way through Southborough on Friday evening. Runners will race from Algonquin to Trottier, and then from Trottier to Hopkinton State Park.
According to the event website, there appear to be about 150 teams signed up, each with up to 12 members. But since it’s a relay race and since start times for the teams are staggered, not all runners will hit Southborough at once. The Southborough Community Emergency Response Team and Medical Reserve Corps will have volunteers at Trottier from 4:00 to 11:00 pm on Friday to assist runners.
Police Chief Jane Moran said there won’t be any road closures for the race, but she urges motorists to be careful, especially since roads might be wet.
Here is the course map for leg 11 of the race (Algonquin to Trottier) and for leg 12 (Trottier to Hopkinton State Park). You can find more information on the Reach the Beach website (ma.rtbrelay.com).
