With their first defeat of Shrewsbury in two years, the Algonquin girls soccer team last night secured their place in the Division I championship game. The Tomahawks eked out out a 2-1 victory with goals by senior Samantha Abro (with an assist by Ryann Hanley) and Southborough junior Samantha Friday.
It was sweet revenge for Algonquin who fell to Shrewsbury in last year’s Division I championship game. In this year’s final match, Algonquin will face the winner of today’s game between Wachusett and Marlborough. Game day and time are TBA.
