Southborough police responded to three separate accidents this weekend in which a vehicle struck a deer. None of the motorists or their passengers were injured, but the results weren’t so positive for the deer.
The accidents occured on Boston, Framingham, and Turnpike Roads. In two of the incidents the deer had to be euthanized by the responding officer. The third was already dead when officers arrived.
Deer weren’t the only animals wandering our roadways this weekend. Police also got a report of a goat on Turnpike Road, but the animal was gone when they got there.

- 3:02 am – A Blackthorn Drive resident called police to report that a group of teenagers had just vandalized his vehicle. Police located the suspects a short time later, but the victim refused to press charges. Restitution will be worked out between the two parties without police involvement.
- 8:50 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Parkerville Road residence.
- 8:56 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Meadow Lane residence.
- 9:21 am – Officers investigated an abandoned 911 call from a Turnpike Road business.
- 10:34 am – A resident of Maplecrest Drive reported a possible past B & E to their home. Officers responded and investigated the scene. It was determined that there was no attempted B & E.
- 4:00 pm – A medical was reported at the Red Roof Inn.
- 4:14 pm – Officers investigated a parking complaint of vehicles parked in the fire lane at Margaret Neary Elementary School. The vehicles had left the area prior to the responding officer’s arrival.
- 5:55 pm – A hit and run report was investigated on Turnpike Road. Officers located the suspect a short time later and issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported from the accident scene.
- 6:52 pm – SPD received a report of a mattress in the roadway on Boston Road. An officer responded to Boston Road and removed the mattress from the roadway.
- 7:05 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.
- 7:14 pm – A motorist reported an erratic operator on Boston Road. Officers responded to the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
- 7:27 pm – A motorist reported hitting a deer with their motor vehicle on Boston Road. The driver was not injured, but the deer needed to be put down by responding officers.
- 7:45 pm – Officers investigated a report of a suspicious male walking up Oak Hill Road. Officers located the male party and spoke with him. The male party checked out o.k.
- 8:46 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a William Onthank Lane residence.
- 11:09 pm – A male party was placed into protective custody from the parking lot of 37 Turnpike Road.
Saturday, October 22, 2011
- 1:09 am – ARRESTED: A Haverhill man was arrested after a car stop on Turnpike Road. The man was charged with speeding, operating under the influence of alcohol, and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license. He was also charged with resisting arrest, after he repeatedly kicked and spit at the arresting officers.
- 9:11 am – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Valley Road.
- 2:33 pm – Officers investigated a report of an injured female on Central Street. The female party reportedly jumped from her friend’s moving vehicle, after the two had engaged in a verbal argument. The female party refused treatment at the scene, and eventually worked out her problem with her friend.
- 4:28 pm – A motorist reported striking a deer on Turnpike Road. There were no injuries to the driver, but the deer had to be put down by the responding officer.
- 4:54 pm – A resident of Schipper Farm Lane reported finding a lost German shepherd on her property. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
- 8:31 pm – Officers investigated a two car motor vehicle accident on Main Street. Injuries were reported from the scene, and the responding officer took an accident report.
- 9:09 pm – A Constitution Drive resident reported a suspicious motor vehicle that had been parked in front of their house for the past 15 minutes. Officers were tied up at the previous accident scene, and the vehicle had left the area prior to their arrival.
- 10:50 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.

- 3:08 am – Officers investigated a motor vehicle vs. deer accident on Framingham Road. The driver was not injured, but the deer was deceased at the scene.
- 4:50 am – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Turnpike Road business.
- 7:15 am – A medical was reported at a Turnpike Road residence.
- 9:37 am – A resident of Harris Drive reported finding a small, deceased dog in their back yard. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
- 12:39 pm – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
- 1:05 pm – Officers responded to Turnpike Road for a report of a goat in the roadway. The responding officers could not locate the goat, and eventually cleared from the area.
- 1:43 pm – A Learned Road resident reported a loose black Labrador retriever in the neighborhood. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
- 2:34 pm – Officers investigated a burglar alarm at a Valley Road residence.
- 6:07 pm – Officers assisted a disabled motorist on Turnpike Road.
- 10:41 pm – ARRESTED: A Middle Road resident was charged with domestic assault and battery, after officers responded to a disturbance at her home.
