The good news for Algonquin sports continues this postseason, with a win by the girls volleyball team yesterday in the District 1 Central-West quarterfinals. Sixth-seed Algonquin upset third-seed Shepherd Hill by a score of 3-0. The girls will take on second-seed Lincoln-Sudbury in the semifinals on Thursday at 7:00 pm at Lincoln-Sudbury.
In other semifinal action, the Algonquin girls soccer team faces nemesis Shrewsbury tonight at 7:00 pm at Foley Stadium in Worcester. Algonquin lost to Shrewsbury in the district semifinals last year.
After winning their quarterfinal match on Monday, the Algonquin boys soccer team was in a holding pattern waiting to learn when they would face Worcester South in the semifinals. This morning it was announced they will play tomorrow at 5:00 pm at the Hudson Bowl. (I have no idea where the Hudson Bowl is, and a web search came up empty. Anyone?)
