Charles J. “Chic” Christina, 84, beloved husband of Linda (Sorensen) Christina, of Plateau Road, Westerly, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.
Born in Richmond, he was a son of the late Castrenzo and Francesca Christina.
Charles worked as a computer programmer for Harris Graphics for many years until his retirement in 1989. A lifetime baseball enthusiast, he played for the Detroit Minor League and was also a coach for the Westerly Little League. Charles was an avid golfer who also enjoyed playing card games such as bridge, poker and pitch. He loved his garden, especially his tomatoes. He was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Charles Christina, of Southborough, Mass.; son, David Christina, of Westerly; daughter, Lynn (Christina) Cummings and son-in-law, Matthew Cummings, of Hopkinton, Mass.; sister, Frances Terranova, and grandson, Oliver Christina.
Charles was predeceased by brothers, Joseph A. Christina, James A. Christina and Rosario Christina and sisters, Josephine Adimari, Cora Vendetti, Virginia Trebisacci, Terry Henderson and Lucy Matarese.
Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Clare Church, Crandall Avenue, Westerly on Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at River Bend Cemetery, Beach Street, Westerly.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904 in Charles’ memory.
