Somehow I was unaware of this story until a reader pointed it out to me (thanks, Susan B!). After an 11-1 season, the Assabet football is headed to the Central Mass Super Bowl on Saturday, where they’ll be looking for their third CMass title.
Assabet reached the Super Bowl by beating Littleton this week in the Division 6 playoffs. On Saturday they’ll take on Bay Path (10-2). When the two met earlier in the season, Assabet won by a score of 24-6.
Assabet’s football team features three players from Southborough: Tommy Walsh, Chris Dupuis and Jared Hagopian. All are sophomores.
The Super Bowl kicks off on Saturday at 11:00 am at Fitchburg State. Best of luck to the Aztecs!
I hope as many people as possible can go to the game! My son Colin played football at Assabet his freshman year, but due to back surgery he had to have, he could no longer play. The coaching staff made sure he was still part of the team, asking him if he would film the games. Colin happily did so, and was part of their Super Bowl championship his Junior year. This is a great organization, and a great school. My best to all! Go Aztecs!
