For some high school athletes, football is the sport of choice. For others it’s soccer or lacrosse or basketball. Southborough 16-year-old Korey Dropkin has taken a less traveled path. He’s a curler, and next month he’ll represent the US in the first-ever Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Reports the Metrowest Daily News:
Earlier this month, at a small curling club in Grafton, N.D., Dropkin realized his dream, serving as the skip (leader) of a curling team that earned the right to represent the United States at the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games.
“It’s pretty cool,” said Dropkin, who has been curling since he was a little kid along with his older brother, Stephen. “It’s actually amazing.”
The games take place in January in Innsbruck, Austria. You can read more about Dropkin – and get a primer on the sport of curling – in this article by the MWDN.
Congratulations on representing the Unites States at the Youth Olympic Games! Good luck and enjoy the honor.
