Fundraising is down, and that means starting this month, fees are going up for seniors who take advantage of lunches and other programs at the Senior Center.
In it’s bi-monthly newsletter, Friends of the Council on Aging President Brian Donovan said a major contributor who has supported the Friends organization for nearly ten years, will be unable to next year due to fiscal constraints. In addition the annual golf tournament fundraiser this year brought in 30% less revenue than in the past.
As a result, Donovan said the suggested donation for Senior Center programs that include food will increase from $4 to $6 for Friends members, and from $6 to $10 for non-members. The suggested donation for other programs may also increase.
The Friends of the Council on Aging offers a range of programs at the Senior Center for Southborough residents ages 65 and older, everything from card games to crafts to yoga and more. They also support special events like concerts, lunches, and field trips. Check out the Senior Center’s latest newsletter for the complete list of programs.
The Friends of the Council on Aging is a non-profit fundraising group, and they welcome donations. Checks can be made out to Friends of the Council on Aging and sent to or dropped off at the Senior Center at 9 Cordaville Road.
