Should Southborough join a growing number of Massachusetts towns that have become certified as “green” communities? That’s the question the town’s Green Technology and Recycling Committee will discuss at an information session on Thursday.
In 2008 Massachusetts passed the Green Communities Act, legislation that encourages municipalities to adopt clean energy practices in exchange for increased local aid. Since then, more than 80 cities and towns in the state have been designated Green Communities, including Hopkinton, Marlborough, Sudbury, and Natick. Southborough’s Green Technology and Recycling Committee thinks our town should consider becoming one of them.
