Southborough fire crews battled several brush fires on Southville Road yesterday. According to the Metrowest Daily News, the fires began around 1:45 pm near the train tracks at 206 Southville Road. An engine from Ashland also responded.

Update 4:45 pm: Soon-to-be Fire Chief Joseph Mauro told me there were two fires along the railroad tracks yesterday. One was very small, while the other burned about 1/4 of an acre. He said both were probably started by sparks from the train.
They also responded mutual aid to Westborough for a building fire further down the street om Homesetad Boulevard and a medical in the center of town. It was a very busy short time period!
