This weekend members of Southborough Rotary will introduce a team of fellow Rotarians from India to the charms of Southborough as part of an exchange program. Here’s more information on the program sent along by Southborough Rotary.
The Rotary Club of Southborough is please to be hosting four individuals from the Republic of India as part of the Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange (GSE) program during the month of May 2012. The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 in the initial years of their professional life.
The program provides travel grants for teams of participants to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members study the host country’s institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas. Team members can come from corporations, small businesses, community organizations, medical and educational facilities, government offices, and nonprofit agencies.
Participants from India include Rtn. Anand Kulkarni, Rotary District Secretary, GSE Team Leader, Civil Engineer and partner in Shree Sarmath Consturction; Padma Dandannavar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of KLS Gogte Institute of Technology; Latit Jain, Management major graduate from Karnataka University, Dharward and retail entrepreneur; and Sai Thakur, graduate of MBA program at University of Pune currently the Director of Print Media for Tarun Bharadaily Pvt.
Several Rotary Clubs in the Central Massachusetts area are hosting the GSE team during their one-month stay in the United States. From Friday May 4th through Monday May 7th, the Southborough Rotary Club will be escorting the team on a tour of Southborough including our municipal buildings, Saint Marks School, Woodward School and the new solar electric power generating site at the intersection of Routes 9 and 85. The team will also be escorted on a tour of the Massachusetts State House by Carolyn Dykema Southborough’s State Represenative.
