What’s up with these dreadfully low water levels all over town? When will the water be restored to former levels? How much is this project impacting wildlife? This project seems to be taking forever.

It’s all part of dam and gate repairs down stream in Framingham. I guess the upside for Southborough is that I did contact the MWRA and they had DCR crews pull the trashcans and other junk out of the reservior on Marlborough Road. I understand that the repairs were scheduled to be completed in early summer and then the reservoir system will be allowed to refill.

There is also work being done on the dam at the corner of Deerpath and 30.

I passed there today and wondered when it would show up here. Lo and behold, your comment was there already. I’ve been meaning to walk by and get some snapshots of this (hopefully) rare activity.

This refurbishment is a good idea. That dam has been showing signs of wear and tear for a decade.

This press release from the MWRA says work will be completed in June, and that’s when waters levels will be restored. So it doesn’t seem to going later than planned yet:

Why is it that the town asked anyone with storm damage to send pictures of the damage so they could try to get national aid? When the aid came, none if it was given to the people that sent pictures and reports to substantiate the damage. They, like we, had to pay for our own cleanup? Just curious.

Is this from the 2009 storm?

I have read recently in the police logs where there are a number of entries which site a lack of staffing on police shifts. One case described just two officers working a night shift. Does anyone know if this is a temporary problem?

It’s not just a problem, it’s a reality that has existed for years. The recommendations of the Public Safety study that was done years ago have yet to come to fruition. There have been improvements in police and fire, but the Town hasn’t completed all of the recommendations.

Why is it that large trucks, up to and including semis, are still using School St? It’s a truck restricted road. There is no indication on either sign at each end of the street that local deliveries are excepted. I just saw a semi from Performance Food Group go down today, presumably to deliver to St. Mark’s. If that’s the case, they should be using the front entrance.

I noticed the truck exclusion signs are now up on Gilmore Road. A big thank you to the residents who worked so hard to help bring this about!

Susan,
You are correct, residents are to contact the Police Chief with such concerns and
the Board of Selectmen if they feel it necessary.

There are large flashing signs on Southville Rd near the Rt 85 intersection warning that “Construction on Rt 85 begins Jun 1”. Does anyone know where on 85 and/or how extensive a project this will be?
