Flags in Southborough and across the state are flying at half staff today in honor of Springfield Police Officer Kevin Ambrose. A 36-year veteran of the Springfield department, Ambrose was killed on Monday when he responded to a domestic violence call.
A funeral for Ambrose will be held this morning in Springfield. Governor Deval Patrick is expected to attend, along with police officers from across the state.
On its Facebook page, the Southborough Police Department offered words of condolence. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the City of Springfield Police Department, as well as with the friends and family of Springfield Police Officer Kevin Ambrose,” the department said.
