Get your camera and your autograph pads ready, because barring any unforeseen glitches, Adam Sandler and crew are coming to Southborough.
Selectman Bill Boland told me last night that the town is close to an agreement with Columbia Pictures on their request to film scenes for a new Sandler comedy in and around Pilgrim Church in May. “As far as we’re concerned, the movie is coming to town.”
Columbia Pictures had originally offer to “donate” $10K to the town to compensate for any inconvenience during filming, but selectmen balked at the number, saying it was too low. That turned out to be a shrewd move, as the movie company came back with a new offer of $20K, a figure Boland says they’ll likely accept.
Southborough residents seem overwhelmingly in favor of filming the movie in town. Selectmen Sal Giorlandino said they received several letters of supoort from residents. And more than 90% of you who voted in the My Southborough poll said you were excited about the movie.
Assuming the deal goes through, crews will start setting up on Monday, May 11. They plan to lay sod along St. Mark’s Street between Pilgrim Church and the old burial ground. Filming will take place the week of May 18.

Finally, something that will be good for the town, will be fun, and probably won’t have any long term detrimental effects.
Hot diggity! I was hoping for $25K, but $20K ain’t chopped liver. Now if only I can manage to slip my headshots to Sandler, I’m pretty sure this will be my big break …
Papa Rosa, you crack me up!
Awesome, I want to get A.S. Autograph!
I want to get an interview!
Do they need extras? If so, who should we contact?
thanks.
@BFreidman – I hear you need to go through a casting company, but I don’t have the details. I’ll try to get more info to post next week.
