(This is the latest in a series of posts about ways you can help those in need this holiday season.)
The Boy Scouts do it. A group from the McAuliffe school in Framingham just did it. And you can do it any time you want.
The “it” here is donating to the Southborough Food Pantry, and it’s a simple way to make a difference for local families in need.
The pantry is housed in Pilgrim Church. Drop-off boxes can be found at a number of area churches, including St. Mark’s, St. Anne, St. Matthew’s, and Pilgrim. You’ll also find donation bins at Finn, Woodward, and Neary schools.
The pantry benefits from several donation drives throughout the year, including Scouting for Food sponsored by the Boy Scouts, but there is always a need for individual donations.
A group of students from Framingham’s McAuliffe Regional Charter Public Middle School recently held a donation drive to benefit the pantry. You can read more about their efforts in this article from the Metrowest Daily News.
How you can help
Go through your pantry and put together a bag of non-perishables to drop off at one of the locations listed above. The food pantry cannot hand out any food that is past its expiration date, so make sure to check the packages.
While the food pantry accepts all forms of non-perishables, they particularly need 1% Parmalat milk (shelf stable), cookies/crackers, beef stew, peanut butter, mayonnaise/Miracle Whip, shampoo and conditioner, and toothpaste.
And if you’re an animal lover, consider donating to the Southborough Pet Food Pantry.
