Retired police chief Frank J. Mattioli of Southborough, MA, passed away peacefully on July 3 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 93. Frank served as Chief of Police in Southborough for 27 years, helping and guiding many people along the way.
He was also a decorated veteran of WW2, serving in the Egyptian-Lybian, Sicilian, Rome and Arno campaigns. His company was assigned to the protection and safety of president Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchhill while they were in Tunisia in 1943.
The Chief was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time on the water at his homes on Cape Cod and Manasota Key in Florida. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna (Vella) Mattioli and his son Paul and wife Deborah of Dennisport, son Francis III of Milford and grandson Francis IV of Berlin.
At Frank’s request, services will be private.
