Where do you lunch (locally)? (Updated)

There’s a new eatery opening up for lunch. And if you like the idea of supporting young people’s dreams, you might want to make a point of stopping by this fall.

Are you looking for a great lunch at a terrific price? Look no further – the Epicurean Restaurant at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School will be opening its doors on Wednesday, October 9th. This is a full service restaurant offering everything from soup to dessert, all in a lovely bistro setting. There is a special parking lot right near the entrance to the restaurant, with handicap accessible parking as well. Just pull all around the school and watch for the sign.

This year the restaurant will be open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only, from 11 Am – 1 PM. The All You Can Eat Buffet is back every Thursday for only $8.70, which includes beverage and dessert. The three chefs and students in the Culinary Arts program delight patrons with new creations all the time, tempting the palate over and over again. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the restaurant line at 508-263-9865.

You can find more information on its website epi.assabettech.com.

That got me thinking, “Where do people like to grab lunch in and around Southborough?”

A lot of you commute. But if/when you are in town for lunch . . .

What’s your favorite local hole in the wall or watering hole?

Where do you like to grab a quick lunch? Or what’s the best spot to share a nice meal with friends?

Update: (10/8/13 1:44 pm) I removed the note that the school is in Hudson. A friend corrected me. Over the years, I’ve taken classes there many times. and never knew I was in Marlborough!

I love the soups at Red Barn westbound. Haven’t tried any food yet from the eastbound folks.

Water Fresh Farm on Hayden Rowe (RT 85) in Hopkinton. They grow their own veggies in water there and you can see it being done. Food is great and there is a lot of ‘meeting space’ that is available.

While Red Barn and Fresh Farm are both great spots, it is frustrating that Southborough has so little to offer by way of lunch (or dinner) options. Having a greater variety of quality, local restaurants, particularly in the downtown area, would encourage a sense of community and would be an asset to the town.
