In a letter to the Southborough Board of Selectmen yesterday, longtime building inspector Peter Johnson announced his intention to retire. Johnson, who has been Southborough’s building inspector for 12 years, plans to move to New York state to be closer to his family.
“We wish Peter the best,” Chairman Bill Boland said.
The board will initiate the search for a replacement, but before they do, they want to take a look at communities in the area that share building inspectors. Consolidating services with a neighboring town might be a way for the town to save money.
