The movie set may still be in place, and sod may cover part of the route, but that won’t stop the annual Memorial Day parade.
Southborough will remember its veterans on Monday with a parade that will pass through the Rural Cemetery, Burnett Cemetery, Revolutionary War Cemetery, and the Civil War Memorial. The final stop will be an observance at the All Wars Memorial.
The parade starts at 9:00 am at the Marlboro Saving Bank at the corner of East Main and Newton Street. Veterans are asked to meet at the Legion/VFW Headquarters at the Community House at 8:15 am.
In addition to the parade, veterans will place flags at gravesites in the Rural Cemetery (Route 85) on Friday, May 22 at 6:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Hello – I was very interested to read your thoughts on remembering the war dead in Southborough, USA. I am a resident of Southborough near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England and have just completed a book on our town’s War Memorial. If anyone is interested in seeing some extracts from the book, they can be viewed on my website – http://www.judithjohnson.co.uk.
Sending all good wishes to the residents of our USA counterpart!
