87 Graduate at 2014 St. Mark’s School Prize Day Ceremony
Co-CEO of Whole Foods Walter Robb ’71 Delivers AddressOn Monday, May 26, the 87 members of the St. Mark’s Class of 2014 graduated in the 149th St. Mark’s Prize Day Exercises. Twelve were members of the Cum Laude Society, and six received Classics diplomas, entitling them to wear garlands of laurel. Alumnus Walter Robb IV ’71, co-CEO of Whole Foods, delivered the Prize Day address. Finnegan Schick ’14 was the valedictory speaker. The Founder’s Medal, the School’s highest honor, was presented to Luya Wang ’14.
In his opening remarks, Head of School John C. Warren ’74 spoke directly to the students. “Thank you for modeling the aspects of intellect and character that we value so highly at St. Mark’s,” he said. “Throughout your time at St. Mark’s you have worked hard to develop important academic skills like analytic and creative thinking, written and oral communication, computation ability, and intercultural knowledge and competence. You have also worked hard to develop personal skills like empathy, courage, confidence and self-advocacy, resilience and adaptability, and leadership through collaboration and teamwork. These academic and personal skills will serve you well as you make your way into an ever more complicated world.”
