Southborough town meeting voters last month rejected a compromise proposed by the regional school committee to resolve the Algonquin debt assessment issue. That means the issue remains unresolved.
The regional school committee on Wednesday night considered how to move forward. The Metrowest Daily News reports many favored a wait and see approach.
Several members said the committee should take the approach of waiting to see if either town will pursue litigation before taking action.
Doing so leaves the regional agreement in place that voters in both towns agreed on before the building project began, though committee members said it is not a move meant to favor Southborough.
“I don’t agree that it’s siding with Southborough,” said Shirley Lundberg. “What we’re doing is following the last thing the towns voted on the same. I don’t think it’s a bad place to be in default.”
