Dull, ordinary-looking drywalls, set up to divide the construction crew and classrooms at Assabet Valley are being turned into colorful, eye-catching canvas’.
Students in the Painting and Decorating program are putting their knowledge to test by using those temporary drywall fixtures as a learning mechanism.
Instructor John Hughes and students appear with ladders, mud, tape, and paint to transform the empty walls into billboards. A press release states:
what was once a bit of an eyesore becomes a conversation piece of gigantic dimensions, sporting larger than life character drawings depicting various careers, highlighting colleges that Assabet students attend, or silhouettes of numerous sporting figures or obvious professionals. . .
Vinyl words of encouragement and wisdom accompany the mural-like works of art, giving students and staff alike pause as they walk through the hallways.
Does anyone know if there is a group of students at AVRH that does house painting? I am in need of my house being painted but I have limited funds. This might be a good option.
I’m not sure… you can try contacting John Hughes, the painting and design instructor via email in the staff directory on Assabet’s website.
What a great idea!!! Kudos to those students and their advisors :-) sure beats looking at plain old construction walls!
