The Board of Selectmen last week approved a $32K contract to replace the roof at Cordaville Hall (the Senior Center). As part of the work, the four dormers on the back of the building will be removed. The ones on the front will remain.
Facilities Manager Phil Rinehart told selectmen the roof needs replacing because shingles are coming up and the wood under the shingles is buckling.
The dormers are being removed to minimize future maintenance costs, but selectmen wanted to keep the ones on the front to preserve the aesthetics of the building.
The contract went to lowest bidder JD&D construction of Webster. In addition to the $32K, the town will pay $5 per square foot for any wood sheathing that needs replacing.
Work will begin as soon as the movie crew moves out of the Senior Center parking lot. It’s expected to take about two weeks. The Senior Center will remain open as normal.
