Today marks the 56th anniversary of the Worcester Tornado that killed 94 people in Central Massachusetts, including three in Southborough.
The tornado was one of the deadliest in US history. It started in Petersham late in the afternoon of June 9, 1953, and made its way through Holden, Worcester, Shrewsbury, and Westborough. It dissipated over the Sudbury Reservoir in Southborough, but not before destroying the Fayville Post Office, killing three inside.
