Next week is spring break for public schools in Southborough. If you aren’t headed out of town, you may be wondering what to do with the kids.
Of course there are also some free things to take advantage of, like playgrounds, and even tennis courts. (Click here for information on town fields, open spaces and facilities.)
Next Thursday afternoon, the Southborough Library is holding a free puppet show for ages 3-9 at 2:30 pm.
But don’t wait until then to stop by. It’s a great time to take advantage of the library’s discount passes to eleven museums/parks.
Two close by that are great for kids are the Discovery Museums in Acton and Ecotarium in Worcester. Both include indoor and outdoor activities, with some special events scheduled this week.
If you were thinking of heading into Boston, pass choices include the Museum of Science, Children’s Museum, NE Aquarium and MFA. (But when you’re planning your schedule, keep in mind that Monday is the marathon.)
If you don’t mind a longer excursion, you could head down to enjoy the Mystic Aquarium. (If you are planning to go overnight, make sure to reserve the pass for two consecutive days, since that one is due back the next morning.)
For information on the library pass program or to reserve a pass, click here.
There’s another town department that offers discounts. Southborough Recreation has discounted Six Flag New England and AMC Movie tickets for sale at their office. Six Flags is open every day through the 26th (then just weekends until mid-May). Stop by 21 Highland Street during office hours to buy tickets.
Enjoy your spring break. Maybe, I’ll run into you during my own staycation.
We’ve gone to Six Flags during April vacation. It’s a great time to go! The lines are short and it’s not too hot. But don’t forget your sunscreen because it is a day in the sun.
Thanks for the tip. I was wondering what the lines would be like this week.
You’re welcome! Have fun!
