SYFS promoting Mental Health awareness

Southborough Youth and Family Services is taking Mental Health Awareness Month seriously. They are reaching out in hopes of helping those that struggle with issues, including depression.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. In an effort to educate people about mental health, and to reduce stigma, Southborough Youth and Family Services is observing the month by putting up posters all over town. Keep your eyes open for brightly colored posters, each offering a statistic, educational fact, or quotation about this very important issue. Contact information for SYFS is also on each poster, as well as attached business cards.

If you have any questions about this initiative, or concerns about mental health for yourself or your family, please call Laurie Sugarman-Whittier or Sarah Cassell at SYFS, at 508 481-5676. SYFS offers free mental health services for residents of the town, and can also help refer to outside clinicians as appropriate.

Posters seek to inform those that are hurting, the people that love them, and the community they live in. Some are general education messages. Some offer tips. And others remind us there is no shame in acknowledging a problem.

Here are a few examples out of the 50 messages SYFS is posting across town:
