Neary fifth grader Thomas Polutchko placed first in his age group at the championship round of MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run skills competition held earlier this month at Fenway. The Metrowest Daily News has the stats:
At Fenway, he pitched three balls into the strike zone, hit the ball 147 feet and ran to home plate in 8.68 seconds for the win.
“I was actually pretty surprised when I found out I won,” he said.
