The Southborough Fire Station’s air horns are used to notify the public in the case of an imminent emergency. But if you hear them going off Wednesday and Thursday of next week, don’t fret. The Town has scheduled testing of the system for July 29th, with the 30th as a backup date.

TESTING OF SOUTHBOROUGH’S EMERGENCY AIR HORN SYSTEM
Emergency Horns on Fire Station to be Test on July 29thThe Town of Southborough will be conducting a test of the Town’s Public Emergency Notification Horns at noon on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, with an alternate date of Thursday, July 30th. The air horns, located at the Fire Station (21 Main Street), will be sounded multiple times in bursts of two. The public should disregard the sounding of the horns on this date, unless otherwise notified/directed by emergency service departments/personnel.
The Town’s Emergency Notification Horns are used to notify the public of various “imminent” life threatening situations and are part of the Towns’ overall emergency notification plan.
The testing of the horns on July 29th, is part of the Town’s process of recertifying with the National Weather Service, MEMA & FEMA as a “StormReady Community”. Southborough became StormReady in 2009, which acknowledges the community’s efforts to plan for weather hazards that can impact the area.
Once the recertification process is complete, the Southborough Emergency Management Agency will send out more information on the StormReady and Public Notification plans and other relevant public educational, preparedness and safety information.
