End of Season Sports: Golf 4th at State, Football out of playoffs

Above: With a 15-1 season, division championship, and 4th place at states, ARHS Golf made their school proud this fall. (Tweet by ARHS AThletics)

After a stellar season, Algonquin varsity Golf came in 4th at state finals last week. According to telegram.com, morning frost made for a tough course all around last Monday. You can read about that here.

In news I missed last week, ARHS Boys and Girls Cross Country came in fourth place at their league championship in Marlborough on the 24th. But they’re not done running yet. They’ll host Westborough High School at 4:00 pm this afternoon in their last scheduled meet.

Tournaments have been announced for Football. Unfortunately, the T-Hawks didn’t make the cut this year. The team heads to Shephard Hill Friday night (7:00 pm) for their last away game this fall.

For Algonquin’s remaining fall sports, the regular season has come to an end but tourneys are yet to be announced. (In fact, today is “seeding day” for soccer and field hockey.) So stay tuned for news on those divisionals.

Although the boys varsity football team did not make the playoffs it was close with Marlboro only beating us out by fractions of points. They actually are having another stellar year beating Shrewsbury last week convincingly 34-7, first time I witnessed that in five years. Their record is 5-3 as they play Shepard Hill away this Friday and then back home the following Friday at ARHS. And the season will finish at home against Westboro on Thanksgiving. Come on out you will enjoy Friday Night Lights one more time this year.
