Emil W. Miller, Jr., 93, a longtime Southborough resident, died on Thursday, November 5, 2015.
He was the husband of 70 years to the late Shirley E. Miller who passed away in June, 2015.
Born in Boston, Emil graduated from Boston Latin High School. He received a B.S., B.A., and law degree from Boston University. His career was in accounting and business.
Emil served as Quarter Master Third Class on the USS Picuda; S.S.#382 and USS S-35 submarines in the U.S. Navy during WWII and received several medals and awards. He was an active Life Member of the national, state, and region U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II organization and served as president of his local chapter. He enjoyed attending national veterans’ conventions with his brother, Jason, also a WWII sub vet. He was a Life Member of The Disabled American Veterans and a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge.
Emil looked forward to attending Red Sox games with his dear friends, Lee and Mattie Cummings of Southborough. He enjoyed participating in activities at Southborough Senior Center.
He is survived by his children, Emil W. Miller III of Southborough;Diane E. Nescio and her husband Joseph S. of West Chester, PA; a sister-in-law Lois Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son, John W. Miller; his three brothers Gilbert, Jason, and Chester Miller; sister Catherine Miller; and sister-in-law Helena Miller.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral arrangements for a private service are under the care of Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. in Southborough. Burial will be in Southborough Rural Cemetery.
