The Friends of the Southborough Recreation Department are hoping that families in town will consider the Gobble Wobble a Thanksgiving tradition.
Many runners and families in town already take part in the 5k race, 2 mile walk, or the Kids Fun Run. But organizers are trying to reach more than just runners. They need volunteers to help keep the event running this month and every year.
The event is their big annual fundraiser and helps fund important recreational projects in town. (Stay tuned for news on their next big project – supporting the revitalization of a playground.)
The Friends asked me to thank their sponsors and get the word out to potential volunteers. Here’s their message:
9th Annual Gobble Wobble
Fall brings many fun festivities in New England. Friends of Southborough Recreation (FOSR) and the Southborough Recreation Department are proud to offer its 9th Annual Gobble Wobble 5K race, 2 mile walk and Kids Fun Run on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th as not only an exciting but also valuable community tradition.
The Southborough Recreation Department and FOSR are proud to collaborate on this community event each year, as both organizations promote and support health, togetherness, and community spirit by providing recreational activities, facilities, and special events. FOSR is a 501c(3) organization with tax-exempt status that provides funding for programs and improvements that support our mission, as well as scholarships to deserving community members. Proceeds from this race will benefit FOSR and help support quality recreational activities for youths and families in our community throughout the year.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year to reflect upon all we are grateful for and how we can give back. While considering Thanksgiving plans this year, we invite you to make Southborough’s Gobble Wobble your new or continued family tradition. Support from volunteers is critical in making this event such a strong tradition in Southborough.
