Two bus trips are being offered to Southborough seniors in May and June. Since they look like they’ll be popular ones, I suggest you sign up soon.
There is a restriction for which seniors can register, but it’s easy to overcome.
Both trips are only open to members of Friends of the Council on Aging. But that only costs $10 in annual (suggested) dues to join up. The membership not only allows you to sign up for the bus trips (at additional cost) but allows admission or discounts for many of the Senior Center’s programs.

As for the trips, on May 19th, seniors will be heading to the Worcester Art Museum. Along with their usual displays, you can enjoy a special exhibit “Highest Heaven” featuring Spanish and Portuguese colonial art. (Click here to read about that.)
Next month, you seniors can head to Boston to view the Tall ships from a harbor cruise. On the way back, the bus will stop in Natick for seafood.

Worcester Art Museum Bus Trip – Friday, May 19th
Bus leaves at 9:30am from the Senior Center returns approximately 2:30pm

The Worcester Art Museum, which opened to the public in 1898, is world-renowned for its 35,000-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings and media. The collection spans 5,000 years of art and culture, ranging from ancient Roman mosaics to Colonial silver. Impressionist painting, contemporary art, and a selection of arms and armor from the former Higgins Armory Museum which is displayed in the Knights exhibition.
Enjoy a highlights tour of the museum’s permanent collection including (remastered), a selection of 17th and 18th century Renaissance and Baroque masterworks and the newly reinstalled James Corcoran Donnelly Gallery featuring important American artists including Winslow Homer, Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell. There is a Museum Café for Lunch on your own, a little tea cart or feel free to bring your own lunch.
The tour last approximately 1 hour (10:30 to 11:30)—you are free to view the other exhibits before or after you choose to have lunch. The bus will be waiting for you at 2:00pm to bring you back to the Senior Center. Please sign up at the front desk of the Senior Center or call (508) 229-4453
Tall Ships & Dolphin Seafood Restaurant Bus Trip -Wednesday, June 21st
Bus will leave the senior center at 8:30am

Southborough Friends of the Council on Aging is supplementing a portion of the ticket price and lunch. Boston’s history stretches beyond the land and sea and its wealth of maritime history is the reason why only one American port, Boston, was selected for the 2017 Tall Ships Regatta.
In 2017, the Tall Ships will once again parade into historic Boston Harbor and you’ll be able to view them close up on a narrated sightseeing cruise. We will board our vessel, the Provincetown II, for a 10:00am sail. The vessel is equipped with food and beverage service as well as large decks to view the flotilla. We will return to Boston Harbor approximately 11:30 and then proceed to the very highly rated restaurant, Dolphin Seafood in Natick for a very delicious luncheon.
When signing up, please choose from Broiled Haddock with Crumbs or Chicken Parmesan, both will include sides, salad, dessert, coffee and tea. Please sign up at the front desk or call (508) 229-4453.
I was told that this trip for the Tall ships was already booked and a long wait list was in place. Why advertise if that is true?
My apologies. I advertised it because I was not aware. The Senior newsletter was just mailed for May and June. And while I was sure the trip would fill up in advance, I didn’t think word about it had been out long enough for that to have taken place.
