I wasn’t at the Board of Selectmen meeting last night, but the Metrowest Daily News has a recap.
Selectment added some new blood to the Municipal Facilities Committee by appointing three new members and nearly doubling the size of the committee to seven. The Municipal Facilities Committee is working on plans for a new police station.
New members are Peter Goodney, David Shaffer and Scott Weiss. Selectman Bill Boland voted against the appointments over concerns the committee would be too big.
In other business, selectmen set a salaray range for Southborough’s new police chief of $89,000 to $105,000. That doesn’t include benefits or educational incentives.
You can read all the details in the Metrowest Daily News.
I hope the three new appointees have no connection to the Historical Committee. Town government works best when we can listen to many different voices who do not have an agenda, even if some of those voices, including mine, can be annoying at times,
It was a very bad decision by the Selectmen to appoint two members of the Historical Commission to the Municipal Facilities Committee. When the two committees disagree on what to do with the old police station, the issue ground to a halt.
